COVID-19 continues to be a novel coronavirus with much research going on to understand it’s disease-causing mechanisms. What is known is that it should be treated as airborne to best protect against infection.

What we have been doing at The Shaughnessy Clinic is to take this important step in patient safety, to mitigate and best protect everyone who comes into the Clinic during this COVID-19 pandemic.

1. Our environmental systems for the entire clinic are specifically designed to meet and exceed the highest Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requirements - CSA Z317.2 - for health and surgical facilities as of 2020. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia has now adopted these requirements for new surgical facilities accreditation. Our surgical HVAC system is compliant with NASA studies in the filtration of particles smaller than COVID-19.

2. Our PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) for both staff and patients exceed any health facility in Greater Vancouver. Members of our team are actively assisting in the Provincial Government and the City of Vancouver’s sourcing, testing, and selection of PPEs for personal safety in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

3. What we do in the Clinic, our Policy and Procedures for Health Facilities, continue to exceed the latest requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeon’s of British Columbia’s CSA Health Facilities Requirements.
